Drums, Dunes, and Dinosaurs
Canadian Wonders to be Discovered on the Roads Less Travelled
Drums, Dunes & Dinosaurs
Journey back through geological time to the Cretaceous Period ending 66 million years ago, which saw the Earth’s largest and deadliest dinosaurs. Travel through time to the end of the Ice Age around 14,000 years ago, where the receding glaciers unveiled the Great Sand Hills. Meet the descendants of the first inhabitants to this land following the Ice Age and have the privilege of experiencing firsthand their rich cultural history and traditions.
Numerous fun family friendly activities can be enjoyed along this route. Walk barefoot on spectacular sand dunes. Listen to the power of the drums and watch the talented dancers and singers at Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park. Gaze up inside the world’s largest teepee in Medicine Hat. Spend time awestruck at world renown Royal Tyrell Museum and Dinosaur Provincial Park. Fish in one of the picturesque Cypress Hills lakes. Wander around the massive concretions at otherworldly Red Rock Coulee. Immerse yourself in history at the beautiful Fort Walsh National Historic Site and re-live the early days of the North-West Mounted Police.
